Soul, Sauce, & Soft Life
What to Expect
A curated experience in Japan, hosted & organized by Jalene Smith.
A mix of culture, food, play, nature, and intentional rest. We’ll be visiting Japan at her prettiest and most balanced.
❋ Intentional StructureThis experience is thoughtfully paced. You’ll move through guided moments, shared experiences, and open space to explore on your own. Nothing is over-scheduled and nothing feels aimless. The structure is there to support ease, flow, and presence, not pressure.
❋ Collaborative EnergyThis is a small group by design. Connection happens naturally through shared meals, experiences, and time together. You’ll learn from the places we visit and from the people beside you, without forced bonding or performative sharing.
❋ Experienced FacilitationThis trip is hosted and organized by me, with trusted local partners and guides along the way. I’m there to hold the container, manage logistics, and keep the experience grounded so you can fully enjoy being present without worrying about the details.
❋ A Supportive & Safe SpaceComfort, respect, and safety are non-negotiable. The experience is intentionally inclusive and designed so everyone feels welcome, supported, and at ease. You’re free to show up as yourself and engage at your own pace.

Tokyo is where the trip begins. Expect a mix of sacred and electric. Hi, I’m Jalene!
I’m Jalene Smith, and I design experiences the same way I live my life: thoughtfully, intentionally, and with a lot of care for how things actually feel.
I plan all of my own travel and have visited 19 countries, navigating everything from solo international trips to group experiences. I spent time in Japan last year, where I experienced firsthand how safe, welcoming, and easy the country is to move through. That trip is a big part of what inspired this experience.
For the past four years, I’ve been planning and supporting domestic and international retreats and experiences for clients, including multi-day events and group travel for up to 70 people. My background is in operations and logistics, which means I think about the details most people don’t want to worry about: flow, timing, safety, comfort, and contingency plans.
This Japan experience isn’t thrown together. It’s curated with intention, built on real travel experience, and designed so you can relax into the journey knowing everything has been thoughtfully handled.
The Important Stuff
-
International flights to Japan are not included so you have flexibility to book from your home city, use points, or choose your preferred airline. I’ll provide guidance on recommended arrival and departure times so everyone arrives smoothly. All domestic flights within Japan are included and coordinated as part of the experience.
-
Accommodation is based on shared rooms with two people per room, which helps keep the experience accessible while staying in comfortable, well-located hotels. A limited number of private room upgrades may be available for an additional cost. Rooming preferences can be selected at checkout.
-
I was personally in Japan last year and consistently felt safe, supported, and comfortable navigating the country. Japan is known for its safety, respect, and low crime rates, and this experience is designed with that in mind. As a people-of-colour and queer-inclusive space, venues, accommodations, and activities are intentionally chosen to prioritize comfort, respect, and ease. Group transportation, clear expectations, and vetted partners are part of how safety is quietly built into the experience.
-
This experience is suitable for most fitness levels. Expect daily walking, standing, and light physical activity such as exploring neighborhoods, stairs, and uneven ground in some areas. No extreme fitness is required, and there will always be flexibility to rest or opt out as needed.
-
A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot, with payment plans available to spread the remaining balance over time. Payment details and timelines will be clearly outlined upon registration so you can plan comfortably and confidently.
